Shima Sakon (島 左近), was a renowned strategist under the Toyotomi clan.

Biography[]

In 1600, Shima Sakon participated in the Battle of Sekigahara on the side of the Western Army, serving with the left-flank forces alongside the command of Ishida Mitsunari and Shimazu Yoshihiro.[1]

During the engagement, Shima Sakon, in coordination with the Gamō contingent, conducted a successful skirmish along the Kuisegawa River against the Nakamura forces.[2]

Shima Sakon subsequently withdrew from combat after sustaining injuries when his division came under heavy arquebus fire.[3]
