Biography[]

Oda Katsunaga was sent at an early age for adoption to the Tōyama clan of Iwamura in southeastern Mino Province. After the capture of Iwamura by Takeda Shingen’s forces at the end of 1572, he was taken to Kai, the Takeda clan’s home province, and in 1581, Takeda Katsuyori returned him to his father, Oda Nobunaga.[1]

In 1582, Oda Katsunaga participated in the Oda clan’s campaign against the Takeda, serving as commander of a light infantry force in Kōzuke Province.[2]

Oda Katsunaga was killed alongside his brother Oda Nobutada at the Battle of Honnō-ji.[3][4]
