Mōri Shinsuke (毛利 新助) also known as Mōri Yoshikatsu (毛利 良勝), was an Oda retainer.

Biography[]

Childhood[]

Mōri Shinsuke is believed to have been the son of Mōri Jūrō Atsumoto, who was killed in battle at Inabayama in 1547.[1]

Military Career[]

Mōri Shinsuke first gained fame by taking Imagawa Yoshimoto’s head at the Battle of Okehazama in 1560.[2] In 1569, he participated in the Siege of Okawachi Castle, serving as one of several officers responsible for patrolling the interior of the Oda stockade.[3]

Death[]

Mōri Shinsuke was killed in 1582 during the Battle of Honnō-ji by forces of Akechi Mitsuhide.[4]
